Who are EEC 2040’s services designed for?

We primarily support federally affiliated enterprises, decentralised federal agencies, the Swiss cantons and associated cantonal organisations. However, a number of our services, including the toolbox and the index of best practices, are also available to all other public and private organisations.

Voluntary commitment

Our voluntary commitment is an important framework for organisations that wish to lead by example. Signatories demonstrate their intent to go beyond the minimum requirements set out in Article 10(4) of the Swiss Climate and Innovation Act (CIA) by adopting concrete net-zero targets.

By formally endorsing the commitment at leadership level, organisations can strengthen internal and external support for their net-zero target, roadmap and planned measures.

Net-zero target
Net-zero roadmap, including deployment pathway for negative emissions technologies (NET)
Development goal for renewable electricity production
Selection of measures from the EEC 2040 measures catalogue (optional)

Organisations that sign the EEC 2040 commitment can count on the ongoing support and guidance of our Programme Office, plus the following key benefits:

Expert guidance on questions regarding the structure and content of your commitment
An online tool and support for annual monitoring and reporting on the components of the commitment (including review processes)
Preparation and publication of information regarding your commitment, progress made and exemplary measures taken via our communication channels (website, newsletter, LinkedIn, trade publications, events, etc.)
Participation in the EEC 2040 Coordination Group (optional)

Support with developing your commitment

If you, as a public service provider, would like to sign a voluntary commitment as defined by EEC 2040 but have not yet put all the key components in place, we can support you with their development. We provide the following forms of support:

Targeted advice and free tools for preparing greenhouse gas inventories and developing a net-zero target, plus an emissions reduction pathway
Online tool and support for annual monitoring of your greenhouse gas emissions
A useful toolbox with our Practical Guide on application of the GHG Protocol, an Excel-based tool for developing a net-zero roadmap, and more.
