RUAG makes a significant contribution to Switzerland's security. As a forward-looking technology partner to the Swiss Armed Forces, its focus is on life cycle management, operation and availability of military systems. All business activities are therefore strongly geared towards the procurement programmes of our main customer, the Swiss Armed Forces. The product and service portfolio includes unique subsystems and components for tracked and wheeled vehicles, fighter jets, military helicopters and air defence systems. In addition, it offers reliable information and communication solutions as well as comprehensive maintenance and repair services. Its customers are primarily national and international armed forces, government agencies and civil security organisations.

Energy and climate

With regard to energy and climate, RUAG is focussing on reducing the CO2 emissions of its heating systems, expanding renewable electricity and installing electric charging stations.

In 2024, RUAG’s property portfolio caused 1107 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The aim is that by 2030, all oil and gas heating systems will be converted to renewable energy sources, so that these emissions are eliminated completely.

Targets

Under the EEC initiative, RUAG has pledged to meet the following targets:

1. Increasing energy efficiency

Benchmark: 2018/2019

  • Target for 2026: +6%
  • Target for 2030: +10%

2. Switching to renewable energies

Thermal energy and fuels

  • Target for 2026: 50% renewables
  • Target for 2030: 60% renewables

Electricity

All RUAG’s electricity already comes from renewable sources.

3. Producing green power

Photovoltaics

  • Production in 2024: 0.85GWh
  • Target for 2026: +1.6GWh
  • Target for 2030: +3GWh

Measures

Like all the participants, RUAG has undertaken to implement the joint measures. In addition, RUAG is also implementing the following individual measures:

1. Carbon-neutral heat generation in all properties
2030: 0 CO2 emissions from space heating
