SRG

SRG SSR is an independent, federalist media company organised under private law with around 6,900 employees. It comprises the General Management (GD SRG) and the five Enterprise Units, Radiotelevisione svizzera (RSI), Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha (RTR), Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF) and SWI swissinfo.ch (SWI).

Energy and climate

In 2022, SRG decided to develop a sustainability concept as a guide for the sustainable orientation and development of the company in the environmental, economic and social fields. Moreover, a number of sustainable site development projects are currently being planned and implemented, including photovoltaic systems in Comano, Lausanne and Zurich Leutschenbach.

Targets

Under the EEC initiative, SRG has pledged to meet the following targets:

1. Increasing energy efficiency

Benchmark: 2018/2019

  • Target for 2026: +6%
  • Target for 2030: +10%

2. Switching to renewable energies

Thermal energy and fuels

  • Target for 2026: 30% renewables
  • Target for 2030: 52% renewables
     

Electricity

All of SRG’s electricity already comes from renewable sources.

3. Producing green power

Photovoltaics

  • Production in 2021: 0.2GWh
  • Target for 2026: +0.4GWh
  • Target for 2030: +0.6GWh

Measures

Like all the participants, SRG has undertaken to implement the joint measures. In addition, SRG is also implementing the following individual measures:

1. Assessment of television production carbon footprint
2023: Report established
