With 6.33 million mobile phone customers, 1.49 million television subscribers and 2.7 million broadband connections for private and business customers in Switzerland, Swisscom is one of the leading telecommunications companies and one of the  leading IT companies. In addition, Swisscom builds and maintains mobile phone and landline infrastructure, broadcasts radio signals, builds and operates data centres and operates in the banking, energy, entertainment, advertising and health sectors. In 2024, Swisscom generated sales of CHF 11.04 billion with 19 887 employees (Vodafone Italia excluded).

Energy and climate

Swisscom is pursuing the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions along the entire value chain by 2035. This is based on science-based targets (SBTi): A total of 90 per cent of emissions are to be reduced along all Scopes 1-3 by 2035; remaining emissions will be compensated through certified climate projects. In 2024, the reduction compared to 2018 was -37 per cent for Scope 1 and 2 and -20 per cent for Scope 3.

To achieve its targets, Swisscom relies on 100 per cent renewable electricity, the electrification of its vehicle fleet, energy-efficient data centers, second-life programmes for devices, and cooperation with suppliers. ICT solutions alone enabled customers to avoid over 1.2 million tons of CO2 in 2024 – a significant contribution to decarbonization in Switzerland. In addition, Swisscom is already investing in scaling the market for negative emissions technologies and nature conservation. In doing so, it wants to give itself and others access to high-quality CO2 removal certificates and take responsibility for the emissions that have not yet been fully reduced.
