Flughafen Zürich AG

Flughafen Zürich AG operates Zurich Airport. The company employs around 2000 people at its Zurich site. In 2024, 31.2 million passengers were recorded there.
Energy and climate
Flughafen Zürich AG has set itself ambitious climate targets. Its own greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced to net zero by 2040. To achieve this, Flughafen Zürich AG is focusing on measures to reduce energy consumption, such as building renovations. It is also expanding its supply of emission-free heating and cooling. The company is relying on heat pumps, seasonal storage of heat and cold in the ground, and geothermal probe fields.
Targets
Under the EEC initiative, Flughafen Zürich AG has pledged to meet the following targets:
1. Increasing energy efficiency
Benchmark: 2018/2019
- Target for 2026: +0.4%
- Target for 2030: +7%
2. Switching to renewable energies
Thermal energy and fuels
- Target for 2026: 9% renewables
- Target for 2030: 22% renewables
Electricity
- Target for 2030: 100% from renewable sources
3. Producing green power
Photovoltaics
- Production in 2021: 1.7GWh
- Target for 2026: +0.4GWh
- Target for 2030: +2.8GWh
Measures
Like all the participants, Flughafen Zürich AG has undertaken to implement the joint measures. In addition, Flughafen Zürich AG is also implementing the following individual measures:
1. Charging points and fast charging stations in public areas
2030: 75 charging points and one fast charging station
2. Charging points and fast charging stations on the airside
2030: 150 charging points and two fast charging stations
3. Utilisation rate of the aircraft power supply systems
2030: Target rate of 80%
4. Number of products in portfolio offering electricity from 100% renewable energy
