Civil Federal Administration and DDPS pursue net-zero targets independently
The Climate and Innovation Act (KlG) has set the central Federal Administration its own ambitious net-zero target. It will pursue this goal outside of the EEC with immediate effect. The Civil Federal Administration and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) are therefore no longer participants in our initiative. However, we will continue to work closely with them to share knowledge, experience and tools in pursuit of net zero.

Since the launch of the initiative in 2013, the Civil Federal Administration and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) have contributed to the Energy Strategy 2050 and the 2015 Paris Agreement in their roles as EEC participants. To this end, they have pursued individual targets for energy efficiency, absolute green power production, renewable heating and cooling, and renewable fuels.
With the entry into force of the Climate and Innovation Act (KlG), the central Federal Administration has received its own highly ambitious net-zero target: to reach net zero in Scopes 1 to 3 by 2040. The Civil Federal Administration and the DDPS are therefore pursuing this net-zero target with immediate effect outside of the EEC.
However, the central Federal Administration and its employees will continue to be in close contact with the EEC for the purpose of jointly discussing outstanding implementation issues and sharing experiences. This includes webinars, professional events and the mutual provision of information on good practices and useful tools. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the central Federal Administration under this new approach.
